What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a teeth straightening system that delivers similar results to fixed metal braces. The main difference is the appliance used. Instead of brackets fixed to the teeth with a wire running between them, Invisalign uses a set of clear and removable plastic aligners.

How does Invisalign work?

With traditional orthodontic treatment, your dentist guides the treatment through regular adjustments. With Invisalign treatment, your treatment plan is designed from the start. We scan your teeth and then use computer imaging to map the optimum alignment for each tooth, and the best path to take you there.

These images are used to create a series of clear plastic aligners, each one a little bit closer to perfect alignment. You start with the first set in the case and then move through these aligners, wearing each one for around 10-14 days.

By the end of the treatment plan, your teeth will be in perfect alignment, and you can switch to a permanent bonded retainer, or wear a night time retainer to keep your teeth in alignment.

What does Diamond Invisalign provider mean?

There are different tiers of Invisalign providers based on their level of experience. Diamond is the second highest provider status, appearing above Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The only one higher is Diamond Apex.

To achieve Diamond status, providers have to complete around 150 to 200 Invisalign treatment plans per year. When you choose a Diamond provider, you can be assured that your dentist has extensive experience. This can help to improve treatment outcomes, as they will be able to anticipate any potential issues before they arise.

What to expect from Invisalign treatment

The start of the treatment plan will include a scan of your mouth and X-rays of your jaw structure. If you are a suitable candidate for treatment, these scans will form the basis of your treatment plan. Your dentist might also take physical impressions.

Your aligners will arrive at the practice and we’ll invite you to an appointment to get started. We’ll teach you how to put them in and take them out with ease. We’ll also share some tips to help make you more comfortable throughout treatment.

You’ll need to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours per day. This leaves you with just enough time to eat your meals, brush your teeth and clean your aligners. You’ll keep them in at night while you sleep.

As you progress through the treatment plan, you’ll find that the aligners feel the most tight when you first change them, and then they start to feel more relaxed as your teeth move to fit the new shape. By the end of treatment, you’ll have a perfectly aligned and confident smile.
